Root Canal Therapy

THE ROOT PROBLEM

Root canal therapy (also known as endodontic therapy) is the process of treating the infected pulp (nerve of a tooth), by cleaning and eliminating the infection and protecting the tooth from future microbial invasion. Once a tooth has undergone all 3 stages of root canal, it requires a crown to re-strengthen the tooth structure.

Some early symptoms that you may need a root canal include:

  • Tooth pain and pressure

  • Hot or cold sensitivity

  • Discoloured or darkened tooth

  • The presence of pus at the site of the tooth.
